Denver Fisherman Killed By Lightning Identified

Accident Happened At Boyd Lake State Park

A Denver man was identified as the one who was killed by lightning over the weekend at Boyd Lake State Park in Larimer County.

The man was fishing on the Willows Landing shoreline with a friend a several family members Saturday when a rain and lightning storm hit the area.

A lightning bolt struck the two men, but friends didn't realize it because they ran to nearby cars and waited out the storm for 15 minutes. The men were transported to McKee Medical Center in Loveland where of them was pronounced dead. The second man was treated and released from the hospital.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Cesar Octavio Ramirez-Tamayo, 31, of Denver. The injured man was identified by friends as Lorenzo Velasquez.
