DENVER -- Colorado authorities have issued a statewide amber alert for a 2-week-old baby taken from a car while it was parked at a Denver AutoZone, 7NEWS reported.
The baby is identified as Mauro Ramirez-Soria. He is a Hispanic male with light brown hair and brown eyes.
The suspect, named "Rosa," was last seen driving a wine-colored minivan, heading north on Federal, from Harvard at noon, police said.According to information obtained by 7NEWS, "Rosa" met the mother, Maria Ramirez-Soria (pictured, left), and the newborn at Denver Health a couple of weeks ago. Then today, the suspect showed up to the woman's house for no reason and said that they should go meet the baby's father in the park. The mother then loaded her son in the car with "Rosa." The threesome stopped at an Auto Zone at Federal and Harvard so that the mother could get a drink but when she came out of the store, the suspect had fled with the baby.
"Rosa" (sketch, left) is about 26 years old, between 5 feet 2 and 5 feet 6 inches tall. She is described as a heavyset woman with brown eyes and brown hair. Her hair is in a bun tied with green string. She was wearing black pants, a wine-colored shirt, white socks and clogs. She may have tattoos on her back, police said.Denver Health Medical Center issued a statement Tuesday afternoon that said the suspect is not an employee of the hospital:"Denver Health is cooperating fully with the police who are investigating the whereabouts of the missing baby. Nothing currently leads us to believe that the alleged kidnapper is affiliated with Denver Health."
