Police Make 3rd Arrest In 'Bonnie And Clyde' Robberies

Suspect Accused Of 2 Counts Of Aggravated Robbery

It looks like "Bonnie and Clyde" had some help.

Greeley police said they have arrested a third suspect in a string of recent robbery cases named after the infamous outlaws who robbed banks, small stores and rural gas stations during the Great Depression.

Michael Gabriel Nieto, 28, of Greeley, was arrested Wednesday and booked on suspicion of two counts of aggravated robbery. Police said Nieto was involved in the Dec. 15 robbery of a Premier Cash Advance store and the Dec. 24 robbery of a Guaranty Bank.

Earlier this month, police in California arrested Christina Drummond, 23, and Joseph Thomas Nieto, 35, in a suburb of the San Francisco Peninsula. Drummond and Joseph Nieto were dubbed a modern "Bonnie and Clyde" and accused of pulling two stickups in Greeley. The robberies are the same ones Michael Nieto is accused of participating in.

The couple had headed for Central California after the Weld County District Attorney's Office issued arrest warrants for them. Authorities believe they robbed a Rabobank in Los Banos, Calif., on Jan. 12, the day they were captured. They also are suspected of a robbery in Visalia, Calif.

Greeley police said the investigation into the two robberies there is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Greeley Police Department at 970-350-9600.
