Officer Punched In Face During Altercation

Officer Treated, Released from Hospital

A police officer trying to stop a disturbance at 1:45 a.m. Friday ended up punched in the face.

Colorado Springs police were called to the Ritz Grill on South Tejan Street Friday for a large distrubance.

During the disturbance, one man was stabbed near the front door of the restaurant and another man was stabbed nearby. Both victims were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police report said the scene was very chaotic and there were numerous people screaming and running around.

During the disturbance, a Colorado Springs Police Officer was punched in the face with a closed fist.

Christopher Hayes, 21, was arrested for second-degree assault on a peace officer.

Both Hayes and the Officer were treated and released from a local hospital.
