DENVER -- If you fly Southwest Airlines, bring your own blanket and pillow. The airline is no longer passing out pillows or blankets. The Denver Business Journal reported Tuesday that Denver International Airport's third largest carrier pulled blankets and pillows off its planes because of concerns about the spread of the H1N1 flu and other illnesses."The pillows and blankets do not pose a specific health risk, but removing them is one way that Southwest can be proactive in reducing the spread of swine flu. We would rather take precaution and ensure that our flight attendants and fellow employees who assist tidying the aircraft do not handle these items that have also had contact from the public,” spokeswoman Olga Romero told the newspaper.
JetBlue Airlines started charging passengers $7 for a blanket and pillow last year, according to Time Magazine.
