Burglars Target Bedrooms In Wheat Ridge
7 Homes Hit In 5 Hours

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. -- Burglars entered seven Wheat Ridge residences through the windows over the weekend, targeting the bedrooms and stealing jewelry and cash, police said.The series of burglaries occurred on Jan. 2 between 3 and 8 p.m. Four of the burglaries were in an apartment complex, police said. The area hit was bordered by West 26th Avenue, West 33rd Avenue, Lamar Street and Pierce Street.Police said the burglars primarily entered the residences through the windows, either in the front or rear of the home. Some windows had been left open, but others were forced open or broken, said Lisa Stigall, spokeswoman for the Wheat Ridge Police Department. The thieves focused on bedrooms and took small items, such as jewelry and cash.
Police have no suspect information. Authorities are reminding residents to secure their doors and windows before leaving their home and to stay alert to people and activities in their neighborhoods.Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to call Detective Paul Wacker at at 303-237-2220.
