Couple Accused Of Starving Dogs In Court
100 Sled Dogs Seized From Park County Property Near Hartsel

FAIRPLAY, Colo. -- A couple accused of starving hundreds of sled dogs at their Park County kennel were in court in Fairplay Monday. Samuel and Diane Walker were arrested Christmas Day, more than a week after about 100 starving mixed-breed sled dogs were seized from kennels near Hartsel, after an anonymous tip. Six of the dogs were already dead, and another died after the raid.The couple appeared in court but said their attorneys were not able to make the hearing in time. A sentencing hearing was set for Jan 26 at 1:15 p.m. They will remain free on bond until then
They face felony animal cruelty charges. The surviving dogs are being nursed at several area animal shelters and will be given for adoption once they are ready.
