DENVER -- The leader of an identity theft ring that broke into cars to steal credit cards has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.Ismael Lopez, 37, pleaded guilty to violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, a felony, in October.Lopez and three others broke into vehicles, parked at trailheads and parks in Boulder, Broomfield and Jefferson counties, and stole credit cards that they used to make fraudulent purchases at stores throughout the Metro Denver area, according to the Colorado Office of the Attorney General.
The stolen credit cards were used to buy video games, gift cards, groceries and electronics between July 2008 and September 2008.
