Man Sentenced To 42 Years For Break-In
Pair Caught On CSU Campus

GREELEY, Colo. -- A 24-year-old Fort Collins man convicted in a home break-in has been sentenced to 42 years in prison.Trinidad Ramos and 20-year-old David Garza of Greeley were accused of breaking into a home in Evans, threatening the residents at knifepoint, and stealing their car last December. Both were caught on the campus of Colorado State University after a car and foot chase on Dec. 14.Colorado State Patrol officers later saw the stolen car slide into a cable barrier on Interstate 25 and attempted to pull the car over. When the car did not stop, stop sticks were used to disable the vehicle.
Ramos was convicted in October of aggravated motor vehicle theft, vehicular eluding and two counts each of first-degree burglary and aggravated robbery. He was sentenced Tuesday.Ramos criminal history, which dates back to 2001 when he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and served six years in the Youth Offender Services in lieu of a 10 year prison sentence, was part of the prosecution's argument for a lengthy sentence.Garza pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary and is set to be sentenced Wednesday.
