UPDATED: 5:33 pm MST November 25, 2009

A woman was killed just before midnight Monday as she attempted to cross East Colfax Avenue near North Peoria Street.

Police said the driver, who admitted hitting her, stopped and attempted to help the woman.

The woman was hit in the eastbound middle lane of Colfax, about 300 feet from the intersection, which has signal lights, painted crosswalks and a pedestrian crossing signal.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver, identified by police as Daniel Graham, 31, of Aurora. He was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier.

The woman did not carry identification but she was identified late Tuesday as Carrie An Marie Williams, 37, of Aurora. She was identified through fingerprints.
