Denver Father Arrested In Shooting Of Toddler
William Thalley Accused Of Shooting 3-Year-Old Son In Leg

DENVER -- A 3-year-old boy is recovering from a gunshot wound after police said he was shot by his father.St. Anthony's Hospital called police just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday to report that a 3-year-old child had been shot in the leg.Denver police said the parents first told them the child had been shot by an unknown Hispanic male at Morrison Road and South Lowell Boulevard. But police believe the toddler was actually shot by his father, William Thalley, in their home at 3477 W. Alaska Place, in Denver.
The boy was hospitalized in serious condition, as of late Sunday night.Thalley was arrested for child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. The boy's mother, Nicole Fernandez, was arrested for accessory to child abuse after the fact.Thalley has prior convictions for domestic violence and violating restraining orders in Denver and Jefferson counties, according to court records.He also pleaded guilty to illegally owning a pitbull in Denver in February.Thalley was convicted of assault and false imprisonment for a 2000 domestic violence incident in Denver, according to court records. He was sentenced to six months jail time, with four months suspended on the condition he had no further problems with the law. He was ordered to receive domestic violence counseling and two years probation.
