DENVER -- A Longmont police officer was charged with two felonies Friday in a case where he is accused of giving prescription drugs to a confidential informant.Authorities said they believe Jack Kimmett has a relationship with the informant, but didn't give specifics. Investigators said he took Vicodin from his wife and gave the pain medication to the female informant, reported the Boulder Daily Camera.Kimmett, a 28-year-veteran, was released from jail last week after posting a $50,000 bond. The investigation began after detectives received a tip in July. They interviewed several people who said they had first-hand knowledge of Kimmett providing the drugs to the informant.
He faces charges of theft, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony distribution of a controlled substance and official misconduct, the Camera reported.He is next court date is Dec. 10.
