DURANGO, Colo. -- Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort has yanked the season ski pass of a woman who criticized changes to its operating schedule. Resort CEO Gary Derck said Lauren Slaff was refunded the $539 she paid so she could find a resort that better met her expectations. Slaff had told The Durango Herald in an October article that friends with weekday passes to the resort were upset that at the beginning and end of ski season, the resort planned to be open only Friday through Sunday.
Derck said that schedule is used when there's not enough natural snow and that the resort does honor weekday passes when it uses that schedule.Derck told Slaff in a Nov. 2 letter that Slaff's comments to The Durango Herald caused "concern and confusion" among employees and customers, and the management team decided it would be best to "part ways." Slaff said she moved to Durango from New York City 2 1/2 years ago largely because of the nearby ski area. She now has a season pass at Telluride. ------ Information from: Durango Herald, http://www.durangoherald.com
