Montrose Plane Makes Emergency Landing
Pilot Not Seriously Injured

MONTROSE, Colo. -- A small, single-engine plane made a successful emergency landing Wednesday morning on North Park, just southeast of the Montrose Regional Airport.The plane was heavily damaged but the pilot was not seriously hurt. The pilot was taken to Montrose Memorial Hospital with facial injuries, treated and then released.According to the Montrose Daily Press, the pilot is Montrose doctor Douglas Borgo.
The crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Montrose Fire Chief Bob Pistor said the pilot was about to make a landing at the airport when the plane lost power.Borgo tried to land the plane on a residential street but while trying to avoid a car, the wing of his plane clipped a tree at the corner of North Park and North Sixth, spinning the Navion plane around, Montrose police said.He crash-landed further up the block, near a church.The plane has been moved to a hangar at the Montrose County Airport for inspection.
