UPDATED: 12:33 am MST November 14, 2009

A 60-year-old woman was rushed to a local hospital with severe burns to her face, arms and chest Friday evening after her home caught fire, but before her home exploded, authorities said.

Aurora Fire Battalion Chief Mark Turley said the woman's home on North Xanadu, near East Colfax Avenue and Interstate 225, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Turley said firefighters were able to rescue the woman out of her burning home before her oxygen tanks began to explode.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire but have determined the home to be a total loss.
