DENVER -- The search is on for a man who stabbed a woman at a bus stop along West Colfax Thursday morning.Investigators think it was a random attack but it may be linked to three other stabbings from earlier this year. All the crimes occurred along West Colfax Avenue.Thursday's stabbing at Winona Street is the second one at that location. The others have been between Irving Street and Wolff Street on Colfax Avenue.
All of the victims have recovered from their injuries. The latest victim was a woman, who said she was stabbed with a "sharp" object at 10:45 a.m. while she was waiting at an RTD bus stop. She described her attacker as a Hispanic or light-skinned black man, between 25 and 30 years old, with stocky build, long, curly hair and possibly wearing a hat or bandanna. She said he was wearing a turquoise, or light green shirt. The previous incidents on April 6, May 4 and May 30 also occurred in broad daylight -- between 9:45 a.m. and noon -- and with a "sharpened object or knife," Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. The attacker in those cases was described as a black man between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. The Denver Police Department is asking the public to be alert along the West Colfax Corridor, especially at RTD bus stops, and to report any suspicious persons or activities in this area to the police immediately. Also, anyone with information in relation to these previous incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
