Dan Middleton Died In Sunday Night Blaze

POSTED: 9:52 am MST November 11, 2009

Authorities in Durango said they found a marijuana growing operation in the gutted remains of a condo that burned Sunday night.

Dan Middleton, 43, died in the fire that hit the Piñon Heights condominiums at 1208 Avenida del Sol at about 11 p.m. Middleton's body was found in the kitchen of the condo.

His brother, Robert Middleton, told the Durango Herald that Dan had a medical marijuana card, which allowed him to grow his own plants.

Another man, identified as Thomas Yarrington, 46, was airlifted to the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver where he's in intensive care.
