A woman's body found near Boulder Falls trailhead in Boulder County has been identified.

The sheriff's office got a call just before 1 p.m. Monday, from a person on a bus that was driving by the area. The RTD passenger was coming down from Nederland on Highway 119 when he spotted what he thought was a body on the hill, said Boulder County sheriff's Sgt. Joe Gang.

The witness said the body was 300 to 500 feet west of Boulder Falls and 100 to 200 feet up the hill. He called the Boulder County Sheriff's Office after he got back into town.

The Boulder County coroner identified the person Tuesday as Maisie Alison Rasmussen, 20.

A car parked in the parking lot across from the falls was registered to Rasmussen. It had been in the area since Sunday.

"She probably died from a fall," said Sgt. Tom McGrath told the Daily Camera. "We don't know if it was accidental or intentional. We still have a lot of work to do."
