Police in Charleston, W.Va., said that a 9-year-old boy stopped a carjacking in order to protect his young siblings, WCHS in Charleston reported. The boy, Malik Youngblood, was sitting in his mother's car at a convenience store, police said. They said a man named Jonathan Martin jumped into the car and told Malik to get out as his mother tried to get his 3-year-old, 19-month-old and 4-month-old brothers out of the car.
But Malik took the keys from the ignition. He said that he didn't want the man to take his brothers and possibly kill them or others in a crash.Malik said he hid the keys behind his back, and Martin slammed his head against the door as he tried to get them.Martin then ran, but he tripped. When police arrived, he said that he was guilty of trying to steal the car and apologized, court documents said.
