BOULDER, Colo. -- Boulder County authorities have called off the search for a 19-year-old Arvada man who hasn't been seen since going camping in the Nederland area about two weeks ago. The sheriff's office says Justin Pleiss is a "survivalist" camper who took a minimal amount of food and supplies with him in a large red backpack Oct. 25. It is believed that he hitchhiked or took a bus to Boulder or Nederland. His family reported Pleiss missing when he hadn't returned by Nov 2. His family believes he was camping in the West Magnolia Recreation Area south of Nederland.
Authorities searched the area this weekend, but called off the search at dusk. They say they will not resume the search on Monday. Pleiss is described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall, 150 pounds and with long blond hair and blue eyes.
