Aurora Pedestrian Dies Crossing Parker Road
17-Year-Old Driver Stops To Render Aid

AURORA, Colo. -- A 42-year-old man was killed Wednesday night when he crossed South Parker Road near South Lansing Street.A 17-year-old boy was driving a Ford Explorer northbound on the far right lane of Parker Road, at the posted speed limit, and attempted to brake before hitting the man in the street, police said.The pedestrian was walking northbound in the right lane before he had attempted to cross Parker Road, police said.
"We have not been able to determine the reason the male was walking in the roadway instead of the adjacent sidewalk," Aurora police Lt. Chuck DeShazer said."There is no indication the 17-year-old driver was speeding, consuming alcohol or using a cell phone during the accident," he added.The teenage driver stopped and attempted to help the man until emergency units arrived. The accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m.An autopsy was planned to determine if drugs or alcohol were consumed by the pedestrian. He has been identified as Steven Green, of Denver.
