DENVER -- One of two suspects in a double killing last month in southern Illinois has agreed to be returned from Colorado to face prosecution. Afton Ferris has waived extradition from Fort Collins, Colo. That's where she was arrested last month with Michael Schallert in the West Frankfort deaths of 32-year-old Terri Seibeck and 28-year-old Kandis Majors.U.S. Marshals found the couple hiding in a mobile home near Fort Collins on Oct. 23.
Schallert hasn't yet waived extradition, and a status hearing is scheduled for Friday in Fort Collins. Ferris and Schallert were charged in Franklin County with first-degree murder. Authorities said the victims were shot several times and were found the next day on the floor of their West Frankfort home.Investigators said they thought Ferris and Schallert would head back west. Both are from Wyoming, but family members helped police pinpoint their location in Colorado. It wasn't immediately clear how soon Ferris may be returned to Illinois, where each suspect's bond is set at $2 million.
