Parents in Roseville, Calif., are urged to check their kids' candy after a hypodermic needle was found inside a child's candy bag, Sacramento station KCRA reported.

A fifth-grade boy said he found the needle while going through his candy.

"I dumped it all out, and then there was a needle sitting right here," Malcom Bell said. "And I just picked up the needle and gave it to my uncle."

The family called police Sunday to report the incident.

Roseville Police Department spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said officers are talking to people in the area about the needle; which was still in its wrapper.

David Larson, president of the Blue Oaks Neighborhood Association, said he sent an e-mail to a neighborhood list to let people know about the incident and to keep an eye on their own candy.

Gunther said there have been no other reports of needles.
