Boulder Yoga Studio Sued After Man Claims Permanent Disability

Former Resident's Suit Claims Adjustment Given Without Permission

POSTED: 11:26 am MST November 3, 2009

A former Boulder resident claims he is permanently disabled after a yoga instructor adjusted his position during a 2008 class.

Robert Heit, of Santa Rosa, Calif., has filed a lawsuit against Yoga Workshop over an "unsolicited physical manipulation" that was given "unexpectedly and without permission," the Daily Camera reported Tuesday.

Heit claimed he suffered injuries to his knee joint that required surgery.

"Conducting yoga classes where unsolicited physical manipulation is permitted during yoga class poses a danger of injury to patrons and students," the lawsuit states.

Heit said he suffered "severe personal injuries, causing him extreme physical, mental and emotional pain and suffering."

The yoga instructor told the newspaper he had no comment and the lawyer for the yoga studio did not return calls from the Camera.
