Boulder police are trying to find two women who reportedly attacked another woman with a high-heeled shoe, leaving her with a broken nose and broken orbital bone.

Police responded to Pearl Street, near Boulder Canyon Drive, early Sunday morning on a call of "assault in progress."

A witness told police he had seen two women standing over another woman, beating her with a high-heeled shoe and a man nearby trying to stop the attack.

The victim, 39, had a broken nose, an orbital fracture near her right eye and a broken right thumb.

"A high-heeled shoe can be pretty dangerous if wielded as a weapon," said Sarah Huntley, a spokewoman for Boulder police.

The victim said she did not know her attackers.

Police said the victim may have been under the influence of alcohol and is currently in severe pain, so they were hoping to get more information from her over the course of the investigation.

"The crowds on the mall for Halloween had pretty much dissipated at that point. We suspect it's more likely to do with something that happened inside the bar or bar closing," said Huntley.

Huntley said police have little information on the attackers other than that one of the women was wearing a bright yellow tank top.

Anyone with information should call Boulder police at 303-441-3333.
