Rockies Get Feet, Not Inches, Of Snow

High Country Gets Brunt Of Storm

The high country got the brunt of the October snowstorm. Towns received 2 to 3 feet of snow on Wednesday alone.

Many residents welcomed the snow.

"I think it is beautiful," said Lakota Sage. "I think it is awesome."

Others weren't quite sure they were ready for it.

"I thought it was December," said the manager of Anytime Fitness. "I thought, 'This is insane.'"

But for anyone living in the high country, snow is a way of life.

"I don't mind this," said Megan Estep, an Aspen Park resident.

Estep and her husband, Bob Burtis, teamed up to clean up.

"This is a piece of cake," said Burtis.

He was in charge of plowing the driveway with an ATV, while Estep was in charge of the shovel. Unfortunately, more than once.

"This is No. 3 because if you don't, then you come out and it is too deep and you hurt yourself," said Estep.

The couple said they prepared for the storm, stocking up food and wood. Estep said hanging out around the house wasn't too bad.

"I was able to work at home today so I didn't have to drive anywhere," Estep said. "The only thing is I had to put up with my teenage son all day. Fortunately, he sleeps until noon."

For some families a snow day was a perfect excuse to act like a kid.

"My dad made these snowboarding paths," said 10-year-old Nash Murath.

The family's theory was if it was snowing, they were going to be in it. They spent the afternoon snowboarding down a hill next to their home.
