A Greeley man was recovering from his injuries Monday after he was shot in the face while checking fantasy football scores with a friend.

According to police, a 911 call for help was received at 6:35 p.m. Sunday from a home in the 200 block of 30th Avenue.

Police found the victim with a non-life-threatening face wound. He was rushed to a Denver hospital for treatment.

The victim was identified as Robert Knorr, 28. Greeley police Sgt. Joe Tymkowych said Knorr is expected to survive his injuries.

Tymkowych said that Timothy William Pollard, 37, was held on investigation of second-degree assault, criminal intent to commit manslaughter and prohibitive use of a weapon.

According to an arrest affidavit, Pollard had been drinking with Knorr earlier at a bar. The two then went to Pollard's house to watch football and check their fantasy football results.

Pollard told police he thought the safety on the gun was on when he pointed it at his friend and pulled the trigger . He said the gun just clicked, so he pulled the trigger again, shooting Knorr.

Knorr told police from his hospital bed that the last thing he remembered was sitting at the computer before being shot in the head.
