Metro Area Wakes Up To Icy Roads, Multicar Crashes
Metro Area Expected To Get 2 Inches Of Snow

DENVER -- Colorado woke up to an icy, snowy fall morning that closed highways and left drivers facing treacherous conditions. Denver Police said hundreds of accidents were reported in the metro Denver area. All of them are minor, but the conditions led to an accident alert, meaning drivers are asked to pull aside and report the accidents to police later.Many roads in the Denver area were icy after freezing drizzle turned into snow. The slick roads made for dangerous driving conditions. Police advised drivers to go slow and use caution.
Link: CDOT Road ClosuresAurora police said icy conditions caused a number of accidents on Interstate 225.Colorado Springs police said between 20 and 30 vehicles were involved in a multicar crash on southbound I-25 near South Nevada Street at around 6:15 a.m. I-25 was blocked with a detour at Exit 140.Police said the vehicles were piled up on the bridges over South Nevada and South Tejon streets. The interstate reopened around 9:45 a.m.Snow is expected to continue in Denver through Saturday night. The wintry weather caused a postponement of Saturday night's playoff game between the Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies.
