I'm a killer," Barco was quoted as saying as he left the party.Police said a gunman fired five or six shots at the house a few moments later, while people were on the front lawn. One of the bullets went through the left thigh of Ginny Stefanic, who was six months pregnant. She and her baby survived the shooting.Barco's trial began on Sept. 29.He was one of the Fort Carson soldiers profiled by The Gazette in July in a series called "Casualties Of War." According to the newspaper, Barco was severely burned in his first tour of duty in Iraq when a truck blew up and he was pinned by the burning engine.Barco had to beg commanders to allow him back for the second tour. After his return from Iraq, he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, then drunken driving, then burglary with a deadly weapon, the newspaper reported. Then he got divorced.
