HENDERSON, Colo. -- The Commerce City Police Department arrested two people after a five-hour standoff on Saturday night in Henderson.Commerce City police received a 911 hang-up call at about 7 p.m., from a house at 10867 Beeler Street. When the dispatcher called back, a woman told a dispatcher that her life was in danger and the call then disconnected.Christian Rasmussen, spokesman for Commerce City PD, said nobody responded at the house when officers arrived to investigate. Also nobody picked up on subsequent phone calls, even though movement was spotted inside the house.
The department's SWAT team was called in and shortly before midnight, the unit forced their way into the home and removed an adult woman, Rasmussen said.Rasmussen said after she was taken to a secured location, the woman would not cooperate with officers nor discuss what had happened at the house.Shortly thereafter, a man surrendered to police. The man and woman were arrested and held on charges of false reporting and failure to leave premises, Rasmussen said. He added that officers had been at the address before for a domestic violence call."Unfortunately these things do happen," Rasmussen said. "We respond and do the best we can taking care of the situation, making the situation safe for everybody. And I think we did a pretty good job here tonight."
