Youth Taken Into Custody On Wind River Reservation

POSTED: 8:44 am MDT October 2, 2009

An 11-year-old Wyoming boy driving a sport utility vehicle led law enforcement officers on a 100 mph 50-mile chase, police said.

According to police reports, the pursuit began Tuesday at about 3 a.m. near Riverton then headed to Dubois, Wyo.

Officers finally cornered the Chevrolet Suburban near Bull Lake on the Wind River Reservation and said the driver jumped out of the SUV and into the lake.

After finding the water too cold, the boy turned back to shore and was taken into custody, according to police.
