DENVER -- Denver police are investigating a fatal shooting involving one of their officers.
Police responded to a home on the 3300 block of Navajo Street about 1 a.m. Tuesday on a report that there was a suicidal person armed with a knife.
When officers arrived at the scene, a 52-year-old man was in front of the house armed with a knife , Denver police said.
Officers yelled at the man to drop the knife and there was a confrontation, witnesses said.
One officer fired and shot the suspect, who died at the scene.
An investigation determined that the initial call on a suicidal party came from the suspect himself, Denver police said.
The suspect had gone to a nearby home to call 911 and told the dispatch officer that either he or
someone else was going to die.
A knife with a 10-inch blade was recovered from the scene.
Denver police are conducting a full investigation.
The name of the suspect and the two officers involved have not been released.
