Boulder County Boy May Have Died From Swine Flu

Boy's Age, Hometown Not Known

A Boulder County boy has died and the H1N1 virus may be the reason, health officials announced Thursday.

According to the Boulder County Public Health Department, the boy died on Sept. 15.

Health department spokeswoman Chana Goussetis isn't saying much about the boy, only that he was between the ages of 10 and 17.

Goussetis said he may have had other health complications that contributed to his death. He was being treated at Children's Hospital in Aurora when he was pronounced dead.

His could be the second public swine-flu related death this month.

On Wednesday, a 13-year-old boy died from what health department authorities believe was the swine flu. The teen had flu-like symptoms last week and sought treatment at Breckenridge Medical Center.

Bryan Pineda Rosas was found unconscious at his home Wednesday morning and pronounced dead a short time later.

He had tested positive for Type A flu, which leads some doctors to believe he had H1N1. Currently, 99 percent of positive Type A flu tests are thought to be H1N1 influenza, the Summit County coroner said.
