1 Critical After Stolen Car Crashes Into Head-On Traffic

AURORA, Colo. -- Aurora police are investigating a head-on crash that involved a stolen vehicle being followed by University of Colorado police Thursday night.According to police, campus police at the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora were alerted to a LoJack signal on their campus that directed them to a stolen car at about 7:30 p.m. The officers located and followed the vehicle to a restaurant at Colfax Avenue and Chambers Boulevard, while alerting Aurora police.The occupants of the stolen vehicle apparently noticed the police cars and fled.
The stolen vehicle crashed into oncoming traffic along Chamber Boulevard, near 26th Avenue.Police officers did not see the crash occur.One of the three occupants of the stolen vehicle was critically injured. A second person was hospitalized in fair condition. Police said third occupant ran from the crash and has not been found.The driver of the vehicle that was hit was listed in fair condition at University of Colorado Hospital.Aurora police said one of the occupants of the stolen vehicle has several warrants out for his arrest. They are investigating the crash.The University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus police will conduct a critical incident review of the incident.
