Here's the timeline we've gathered so far on the terror investigation that has centered on an Aurora man.

  • Najibullah Zazi was born in Pakistan, moved to Queens as a child and is eligible for U.S. citizenship in October 2009. (Source: Zazi's attorney and aunt.)

  • Zazi is married to a woman who lives in Pakistan, whom he visits about once a year. He has tried, unsuccessfully, to have his wife entered into a special immigration program. (Source: Zazi's attorney)

  • Zazi lived in New York for about nine years prior to moving to Colorado. (Source: Zazi's attorney)

  • Thursday Sept. 10 -- Zazi's rental car (which is rented out in his father's names) is stopped on the George Washington Bridge as he was entering New York City. He was told it was a random drug checkpoint. A dog is used to "sniff" around the car. Zazi spends time visiting friends in NYC and trying to solve an issue with a vending cart of which he has partial ownership. (Source: Zazi's attorney)

  • Friday Sept. 11 -- Zazi's rental car is towed while in NYC. (Source: Zazi's attorney)

  • Saturday Sept. 12 -- Zazi retrieves the car from a police station and believes it and his laptop computer (still inside the car) have been searched. (Source: Zazi's attorney)

  • Sat. or Sunday -- Zazi flies back to Colorado.

  • Sunday, Sept. 13 -- FBI operation underway at DIA. It's not known if this is connected.

  • Monday Sept. 14 -- Federal agents execute search warrants on several addresses in NYC, including one where Zazi stayed with friends. Agents find newly purchased backpacks, but no bomb-making material. (Source: ABCNews) Zazi is publicly discovered as the "Najibullah" federal agents in NYC were asking about/tracking. He denies any ties to terrorism, al-Qaeda, and denies he has any plan to do harm to anyone in the United States.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 16 -- Zazi and his attorney meet with federal agents in Denver at 2 p.m. Zazi submits DNA, hair, and handwriting samples and is interviewed for hours. About 2:30 p.m., Zazi's Aurora apartment is searched, as well as the home of his aunt. Several suitcases are removed from the apartment. About 11:30 p.m. Zazi returns to his apartment.

  • Thursday, Sept. 17 -- Zazi undergoes a second day of questioning.

  • Friday, Sept. 18 Zazi undergoes a third day of questioning and there are reports that Zazi has agreed to plea deal. Zazi's attorney denies that there is a plea deal.

  • Saturday, Sept. 19 Another round of FBI questioning is refused. By Saturday night, Zazi and his father are arrested at their Arapahoe County home.

  • Monday, Sept. 21 Zazi and his father appear in federal court.
