People the world over flock to see the beauty of Estes Park.

Those who live in the mountain town, focused this summer on the beauty within its own people.

Estes resident and 7Everyday Hero Candace Gordon leads the way each year.

She is a cancer survivor - who helps organize the annual Relay For Life.

"Relay for life is really a time to celebrate, remember, and fight back," said Gordon.

The Estes Park relay includes a fund raising walk.

Volunteers like Gordon, put together hundreds of luminaries that line the route.

Each one of them represents someone touched by cancer.

"You feel those stories as people walk around that track of how cancer has affected those people," said Gordon.

Like so many Relays For Life across Colorado, the Estes Park event raises both awareness about cancer, and money for research.

The people of Estes credit Candace Gordon for that success.

"Candace's enthusiasm and positive attitude is definitely the foundation," said Katrina Cahill, event co-chairperson.

Fellow co-chairperson Gary Cahill added, "She is so positive it's infectious. And her attention to detail, nothing goes missed."

"It is really my way of fighting back. When I was diagnosed with cancer I thought: 'What can I do?,'" said Gordon.

What Gordon is doing is encouraging hundreds of people to help fight cancer.
