DENVER -- Xcel Energy said that it is working around to clock to help about 7,000 people along the Front Range and in the Foothills who are still without power and heat in the wake of one of the worst blizzards on record.
About 5,000 customers in the Denver area and another 2,000 in the Evergreen area are
waiting to have their electricity turned on.
At one point about 25,000 customers didn't have power
because of the storm, Xcel said.
Xcel said their repair crews are still having a hard time
getting through snow-clogged residential streets.
It could take two to three days to get to everybody.
That is not good news to those living in and Evergreen. Not only are they without power and heat, they are virtually immobile. The Blizzard of 2003 dumped 71.3 inches in the area, so few people have been able to dig out even three days after the storm.
