Black Hawk Casinos Saw Largest Increase In Adjusted Gross Proceeds

New games, new limits and new hours equated to near-record revenues for Colorado casinos in July.

Casinos statewide reported $76.1 million in adjusted gross proceeds in July, the second best month in Colorado gaming history, trailing only the $76.5 million recorded in July 2007, said Don Burmania, spokesman for Colorado Division of Gaming.

The July total was up 16 percent from $65.6 million in July 2008 and 32.3 percent from $57.5 million in June 2009.

The adjusted gross proceeds are the amount wagered by bettors minus payouts from casinos.

The annual increase in AGP is attributed in large part to an 111 percent increase in table game revenues, including $1.5 million in craps and $665,000 in roulette, the two new games added July 2 as part of Amendment 50, approved by voters in November 2008.

Slot machine revenue increased by 7.9 percent.

Black Hawk's 20 casinos produced a record $54.4 million in July, up 19.11 percent from $45.7 million in July 2008 and 34.6 percent from $40.4 million in June. The July total was the best month for Black Hawk casinos, topping their previous record of $53.6 million in July 2007.

Cripple Creek's 16 casinos reported $15 million in July, up 8.8 percent from $13.8 million the previous July and 26.1 percent from $11.9 million in June. The July total was the third best month for Cripple Creek casinos.

Central City's six casinos generated $6.6 million in July, up 9.2 percent from $6 million in July 2008 and 29 percent from $5.1 million the previous month.

Casinos statewide paid $2 million in gaming tax proceeds in July, up from $1.2 million in July 2008, Burmania said.
