SHERIDAN -- A 27-year-old teacher at Sheridan High School accused of having sex with a male student was sentenced Thursday to eight years of probation.

Melissa Snow had pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child.

Under the terms of the sex offender intensive probation, Snow cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 18 until approved by the probation department, must maintain full-time employment, complete a victim empathy course, and register as a sex offender.

The English teacher was arrested Nov. 5 after a joint investigation by the Denver and Sheridan police departments. A tip from the school led investigators to believe that Snow had sex with the boy more than once at a Denver location.
