Slain Cyclist Found On Overpass Was Victim Of Hit-And-Run
Evans Police Investigating Early-Morning Discovery

EVANS, Colo. -- The dead cyclist found lying on the Highway 34 overpass early Monday morning was the victim of a hit-and-run, Evans police said.He had died from severe blunt force trauma -- injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle, said Evans police Commander Pat Haugse.The victim, whose identity has not been released, was in his 30s. His body was discovered around 3 a.m. on the Highway 34 overpass over Highway 85. A bicycle was lying on the road, on its side, near the body.
Police do not yet have a description of the hit-and-run vehicle, and are asking witnesses to come forward.Haugse said the victim was struck around the time he was found, so he had not been lying on the road for long.Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to call the Evans Police Department at 970-339-2441.
