The Colorado Department of Health reported it has linked 18 cases of hepatitis C to former scrub technician Kristen Parker on Friday.

The latest tally comes after testing over 3,000 patients who might have been at risk of being infected.

Parker is accused of swapping dirty syringes filled with saline solution with ones filled with painkillers that were meant for patients. Parker was infected with hepatitis C during the time of her swapping.

Parker admitted to the crime on a video confession to prosecutors. Federal prosecutors have tallied 19 patients infected in their criminal investigation, U.S. District Attorney spokesman Jeffery Dorschner said.

Parker also worked at Audubon Surgery Center in Colorado Springs. One of the infected persons tested by the health department was a patient at Audubon.

The health department said all test results will not be completed until possibly months later.
