DENVER -- With a knife and a gun, three men led police on a wild, late night chase in Federal Heights. It started around 10 p.m. Tuesday with a carjacking at knifepoint in the King Soopers parking lot at 1575 W. 84th Avenue, police said. Two Hispanic men fled in the stolen vehicle and were followed by a third man in a black Jeep Cherokee.
An officer in an unmarked Federal Heights police car saw the stolen vehicle near 6th Avenue and Federal Boulevard in Denver and tried to stop it. But one of the two men in the car pointed a gun at the officer, leading to a vehicle chase, followed by another chase on foot, police said. One of the two men was caught and arrested, but has not yet been identified, leaving two men on the loose.Denver investigators have tied the one man in custody to another, unrelated crime earlier Tuesday and will coordinate charges with Federal Heights police.
