BOULDER, Colo. -- The owner of a dog found taped to a fridge in Boulder during an argument with his girlfriend pleaded guilty to misdemeanor attempted animal cruelty.Bryan Beck, 21, was given a one-year deferred sentence and 50 hours of community service, according to the Boulder Daily Camera newspaper.Police came to the couple's home on a domestic dispute call. When officers arrived, they noticed a big ball of tape stuck on the side of the refrigerator. It turned out to be Beck's dog. Police said Beck's girlfriend, Abby Toll, used tape and rubber bands to wrap up Rex after the dog made a mess on the carpet.
One of the conditions of Beck's sentence is to have no contact with his former dog or with Toll, the newspaper reported.Toll, 20, has pleaded not guilty to felony animal cruelty. Beck was cited with a misdemeanor animal cruelty citation for not immediately rendering assistance to Rex.Police said Beck continued fighting with his girlfriend while the dog remained stuck to the fridge.Rex has been adopted by a new family who renamed him Yoshi, which means good luck.
