Thunderstorms Taper Off Over Colorado

After A Busy Afternoon, A Quiet Night & Morning

The skies over Colorado were again filled with sound and fury on Monday as strong thunderstorms rolled across the plains, producing strong winds and hail late in the afternoon and evening.

The thunderstorms developed in a warm and unstable air mass that covered eastern Colorado. The main threat of severe weather had pushed into Kansas by sunset. A cold front is sliding into the state from Wyoming and helped to create this line of strong storms - starting early in the afternoon hours

The storms developed rapidly over the foothills after lunch and moved across the southern part of the metro area between 2 and 3 p.m.

A 7NEWS viewer called at about 2:45 p.m. and reported that marble size hail was stacking up like snow, falling at Lincoln and Jordan Road in Parker .

As the weak cold front moves through late tonight and early Tuesday, temperatures are expected to cool into the mid 80s for a couple of days. The storm chances will be lower for a few days as well. For the later part of the week expect warmer temperatures again with a slight chance of storms. Denver will be in the low to mid 90s by Friday.
