AURORA, Colo. -- Aurora police are investigating an armed robbery that ended with the suspected robber shot and killed.

The suspect, who has not been identified, fled the store in a vehicle driven by a woman, said Aurora police Detective Bob Friel.

He was dropped off at a Denver hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Friel said.

It's still unclear who shot the man -- whether it was the store clerk or someone else in the store.

The armed robbery occurred at about 1 p.m. inside a small market at Colfax Avenue and Clinton Street.

Detectives are working with the Crime Scene Investigation Unit to collect evidence, interview witnesses and obtain a search warrant for the business where the shooting occurred.
