Officials Trimming $2.2 Million From General Fund

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Fort Collins officials have decided how to trim about $2.2 million from the city's general fund budget,The city is projecting a $5.6 million gap between revenue initially projected for the year and what likely is to come in, according to the Fort Collins Coloradoan newspaper.The newspaper reported that every service area, ranging from the police department to the finance office, had to come up with cuts to deal with revenue drops.
The cuts included laying off four employees and keeping 40 jobs vacant.The paper also reported that street sweeping will be cut from four times a year to twice a year and equipment replacement and facility renovations have been put on hold.City crews will continue to sweep arterial streets every two weeks.Read more about the cuts in the Fort Collins Coloradoan newspaper.
