A 28-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Police said Lee Hood got into a fight with his wife, Audry Nunez, and stabbed her.

A family member heard the fight and called 911. When police arrived, both Hood and Nunez had knife wounds, said Denver District Attorney spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough.

Both were taken to a local hospital. Nunez later died at the hospital.

Hood remains in custody in the Denver County Jail where he is being held without bond.
