DENVER -- Rescue crews are searching for a 40-year-old woman who fell into a creek with her 8-year-old son while hiking with her family in Steamboat Springs.Rescuers found 8-year-old Kade Saturday afternoon. He suffered cuts on his head but was in stable condition, reported the Steamboat Pilot. The mother, Rebecca Green, was hiking with her father, her daughter, Rachel, and Kade.
"Kade had gotten out onto this rock (and) we just hollered at him to come back, and Rebecca went after him. And must have been he slipped and tumbled, and she tried to rescue him," Green’s father told the Pilot. "I saw her reaching for him, and that was it."Rescuers said Kade was able to grab a branch and pull himself out of the water.Parts of the creek are hard to get to on foot. Swift water rescue teams from Summit County are expected to help with the search Sunday.
