100-Pound Bear Forced It's Way Inside House

DENVER -- A Colorado Springs homeowner came home to an unexpected surprise Friday night.Around 8 p.m. the man reported that a 100-pound bear walking around the front of his house. The man said the bear then forced open the back door to his home.According to police reports, the resident's roommate began yelling and the homeowner grabbed a .45-caliber long colt handgun.
The man shot the bear four times after it turned on a staircase and roared."A bear in a house is a dangerous situation," Matt Yamashita, district wildlife manager for the Colorado Department of Wildlife told The Gazette. "They usually can't find their way out the same way they got in."Sgt. Tim Hogan of the Colorado Springs police department told the Gazette the homeowner felt bad and did not want to comment.Yamashita told the Gazette he was sure the man did nothing wrong, "When it comes down to bears or mountain lions, if a person feels like they're threatened, they have every right by law to kill the animal."The Gazette reported that the fur of the bear will be used for education after it is examined.
