BOULDER, Colo. -- Boulder Police Chief Mark Beckner said his department will enforce the city's indecent exposure laws during the World Naked Bike Ride. The ride is scheduled for Saturday. Beckner said officers will arrest any participants who are "not covering their genitals."Beckner said police have reached out to the race organizers about how to avoid having any riders arrested. This would include ways such as "wearing undergarments that cover genitalia or otherwise obscuring those body parts from public view."
The American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado wants to change the state's nudity law. The organization said the state is wrong in making those who are charged with indecent exposure register as sex offenders.Boulder police arrested a dozen people last fall on charges of indecent exposure during the pumpkin run. Also last year during the bike ride, scores of riders were arrested and ticketed.
